You no longer have to wait for TfL to send you a letter or email with dates for when you can take your TfL driver assessments, which includes the Topographical assessment, SERU assessment and English-speaking test.
New changes to TfL driver assessments 2025
You can now book the following TfL assessments online.
- SERU Assessment
- Topographical Skills Assessment
- Speaking & Listening Test
This also means you can pay for the assessments online before attending TfL’s offices to take your actual test. Unlike before, where you had to take a valid payment with you on the day of the test.
The new online Taxi and Private hire portal also allows you to easily reschedule your SERU assessment or reschedule your topographical skills assessment. Your SERU test results will also be available on the online portal.

Steps on How to book your SERU assessment online:
Step 1: Login
Step 2: Select “Manage My Bookings”
Step 3: Press “+New Appointment
Step 4: See application status and required assessments
Step 5: Choose date, test location
Step 6: Confirm your selection and move on to Payment
Step 7: Double check and then press “Pay Now”
Step 8: Enter your card details, TfL now accepts Amex, Visa, Mastercard and Maestro.
Step 9: Booking confirmation page
Step 10: Download your “Booking confirmation letter”
