Isn’t it annoying when you’ve parked in an area and you want to pay for parking, but you can either find no signs on what app to use, which then means you have to go through each parking app until you find the right one. To make it worse, there have been situations for me where I have ended up in an area that has bad signal, so I can’t even search to find the correct app.
Other pain points with these apps are remembering multiple logins or in some cases discovering you need to go to a whole new app or the company operating the parking doesn’t have an app, instead they need you to use their website.
Well, there is great news on the horizon for drivers. The UK government has started working with the parking apps to build an all-in-one app which will allow drivers to use just one app to park anywhere in the UK.
The new app will be called “National Parking Platform”. This new app will mean all parking payments including on-street parking, council car parking spaces or car parks will be done through this one app. The app will work with existing companies like JustPark, PayByPhone and RingGo and is being developed by a trade body called British Parking Association.
This is a positive change for drivers and will take away the headaches of trying to find the right app to pay for parking.
As always, the project will take some time to be fully developed. The government is first working with 10 local authorities to test the app. We hope the trials are a success and the final all in one parking app is opened to all motorists soon.
